Simplistic?

NYFW Favorites

Two collections from NYFW stood out for me - 3.1 Phillip Lim and The Row.  However for completely different reasons:  3.1 was slightly simplistic with long lines and a muted palette. But at the same time, enticing with rich textures and unique combinations of luxe fabrics.  The Row was all luxury. Lace, cashmere and fur were toned down by men's inspired pieces.  While practical, and affordable, TOMS adorn the models feet!

'We all get dressed for Bill' - Anna Wintour

Have you seen this trailer?  'Bill Cunningham NEW YORK, A film by Richard Press' will be released in New York and LA March 16/11 - the film chronicles the amazing life of Bill Cunningham, the original street style photographer.  Bill was a visionary and pioneered this form of art.  He gave New York's fashionable patrons (famous or not) a platform to express who they were.  Brilliant!

Remember 'there is no reason to be doom and gloom and think fashion is finished'!

Happy Valentines Day

source: Yvan Rodic

I know, I know I'm a day late, but I was too busy to get online yesterday.  M and I made a wonderful 'surf and turf' dinner at home.  We had steak and whole lobsters, asparagus, baked potato, garlic bread and for dessert we made chocolate covered strawberries, oranges, kiwis and bananas!  After our wonderful dinner we headed downtown to the Orpheum Theater for a night of Beauty and Romance performed by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.  I'll occasionally listed to classical music, but I've never gone to a live performance. Well I was completely enthralled in the music - magnificent!

How did you spend your Valentines Day?

And on a side note:
To my 'favorite' - Thank you - you are my everything - xxoo

The Ugly Tree

My friends and I have a saying; "I feel like I fell out of the 'ugly tree' and hit every branch on the way down!"  Well yesterday I was having one of those days - nothing felt right.  My skin looked dull, my stomach bloated, my hair frizzy and on top of all that I could find absolutely NOTHING to wear!  Alright that may be a bit dramatic, but as I changed for the twelfth time that morning I thought to myself 'what the hell have I been wearing all winter?'  You know, your go to outfit(s) when nothing feels right.  I finally settled on leggings and a tunic - which is fine, but nothing to brag about.  After talking to a few girls around the office, I'm not the only one feeling this way - our conclusion?  We are so OVER winter!  Here are a few fabulous ladies, courtesy of Mr. Newton (if you have not checked out this blog, DO, it's great!) getting into the spring spirit...

Morning Glory

I woke up at 6:18 this morning - that's quite early for me.  I guess I could have gone back to sleep for another hour or so but instead I decided to get in some early morning inspiration via The Sartoialist and Yvan Rodic...

Shit now I'm going to be late!  Alright one last note - words to live by:

Note sure where I found this last photo - sorry for the lack of credit...

Pre-Fall 2011 Favorites

Givenchy - Riccardo Tisci has created a strong Pre-Fall Collection of wearable pieces that will entice the tomboy and the divine lady in us all.  Sadly Givenchy is slightly out of my price range!  But the styling here can be easily interpreted.  On a side note - can you imagine a collaboration with Givenchy and H&M?  I would actually wait in line at 4am for that Collection.

The final outfit...

Do you ever think to yourself: 'if I could only wear one outfit forever...'  Well I never have.  Because I'm a clothes whore.  Buuut when I saw this picture of Giovanna B. on The Satorialist - the first thing that came to my mind was 'if I had to only wear one outfit forever it would be this...'  Don't ask me exactly why - I just love the ease of her dress, the shape of her boots, the stack of silver bangles, and her free flowing hair.  My final outfit.  What would your final outfit be?
